Becoming a foster parent involves multiple steps including Screening, Assessment, and Specialized Training. To ensure children are going into a welcoming, supportive, safe, and nurturing environment

A short explanation on the process.
  1. Screening and Assessment
  • Check of previous or current involvement with MCFD/DAAs
  • Three references
  • A medical reference
  • A criminal record check
  • A home study

2. Information Sessions

Help provide pre-service foster parents with the information about the approval, and assessment process while also outlining the responsibilities and requirements that need to be met.

3. Pre-Service Training

  •  Once the initial screening is complete pre-service foster parents will be invited to participate in PRIDE pre-service training for foster care givers.
  • PRIDE or (Parent Resources for Information, Development, and Education) is a specialized training program focused on providing information and preparing caregivers for the roles and responsibilities they will have to fill while fostering.
